The mystery of the knitted book-cosies…

Parts of Lincolnshire had a couple of inches of snow at the weekend, so perhaps that explains why a mystery knitter has been crocheting woolly jackets for our books and leaving them on the shelves in the GCW University Library, for our bemused shelving team to find.

Yes, you read that right…

(Event recreated for dramatic purposes...)

(Dramatic reconstruction of the event...)

The shelvers have discovered two so far: a pink one yesterday and a red one today… will any more appear?

(If you're interested, one is a bookon sustainable architecture, the other a bound volume of an HRM journal)

(In case you were wondering, one is a book on sustainable architecture, the other a bound volume of a management journal...)

We’re quite at a loss for an explanation (Guerilla art statement? Fashion-student-on-a-mission? Subtly satirical comment on the heating in the GCW?), although the general consensus amongst the library staff is that they’re quite lovely. Certainly, we’d like to thank our anonymous knitter for brightening up our day.

We have but one request: next time, could you add a zip, or perhaps some buttons, so that we can get the books out again..?

And—whoever you are—can we interest you in any of these titles?
