JSTOR is now working again, and the error message we’ve been seeing since late last week has now disappeared.
According to JSTOR:
“We’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we resolved this issue over the last few days … problems related to the security certificate for www.jstor.org have caused authentication issues for some UK Federation members [which includes Lincoln] … Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this outage, and throughout the access issues over the last few days.”
JSTOR is a not–for–profit organization dedicated to helping the scholarly community discover, use, and build upon a wide range of intellectual content in a trusted digital archive. The University of Lincoln has full-text access to the JSTOR Arts & Sciences collections I, II and III.
You can access JSTOR via the University Portal.

Our apologies to any library users who have been unable to access the BHI (British Humanities Index) and ASSIA bibliographic databases this week.
Access to both databases has now been restored.
However, you may find that you’re still unable to access the associated PILOTS database on the same platform as the BHI and ASSIA – we’ll let you know when this last bug is resolved.
ASSIA provides abstracts and index of academic and trade publications in the social sciences from 1987 onwards. The BHI contains abstracts and index of academic and trade publications, including over 400 daily newspapers, weekly magazines and academic journals from 1962 onwards. Both are available on the CSA Illumina platform.

The Athens login system is now working again, and you should now be able to log in to all of the University’s Athens-protected electronic databases, e-journals & e-books, plus RefWorks.
Our sincere apologies for this disruption to our e-Library services this morning. The problem was caused by an out-of-date security code. We will be taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again.
If you continue to have login problems, please contact us. (N.B. you will still need to use the ‘emergency’ login for all EBSCOhost databases, until a separate problem with those databases is addressed.)

We seem to be experiencing some problems with the Athens login system this morning. This is affecting access to most databases, the E-journals A-to-Z, and all e-books. Users are seeing the following error message:
Error
The Authentication Point was unable to action your AthensDA request. This may be due to a temporary network problem, server failure, or invalid request.
Our apologies for this interruption to the e-Library service. We have reported the problem to Eduserv Athens and will let you know as soon as it is resolved.

The library has trial access, until further notice, of the Art & Architecture Complete (BETA) service from EBSCOhost.
N.B. that this version of the database is a Beta release. At present this database hasn’t been released, therefore the current content won’t be a reflection of the overall database when launched shortly.
Art & Architecture Complete – BETA is a comprehensive bibliographic database that provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for more than 630 academic journals, magazines and trade publications with full text for over 240 periodicals and 140 books, as well as selective coverage for over 50 publications. The database has been designed for use by a diverse audience that includes art scholars, artists, designers, college students, and general viewers.
You can log in to the database via the University Portal. We would be very interested in hearing what you think about this database… email your feedback to your subject librarian, or leave a comment here!
