Thank you for your patience through our technical difficulties today.
Library systems (including self issue and return of books, and access to our online library catalogue) are now working again – a hardware problem has been resolved by University ICT services and we are not expecting any more ‘down time’.
We would ask that you please bear with us while we process today’s backlog of offline, manual book transactions. Details of any loans / returns will appear on your library account shortly.
Please do contact library staff if you experience any problems with our services.

The problems earlier today with access to our library catalogue have been fixed, and the catalogue is available again.
Our catalogue is the best way of finding books and journals, e-books, DVDs and other library materials for your course. It’s easy to use (and there’s also an online step-through guide to finding the books you need).
The library catalogue can be accessed on and off campus:
Off campus
Go to – www.library.lincoln.ac.uk
On campus
Click on the library catalogue icon on the computer desktop:
In addition to this, the GCW University Library and Hull and Riseholme Learning Resources Centres have computers where the library catalogue can be accessed without the need to log on to a computer.

The ongoing postal strikes are unfortunately resulting in a delay in the delivery of current journal issues to all sites.
All print issues will be added to stock as and when they arrive, please check the library catalogue for details of new issues.
In the meantime some publishers are providing online versions for the duration of the strike – the following titles are available as digital editions:
THE (Times Higher)
TES (Times Educational Supplement)

The University of Lincoln’s library catalogue is back up and working once again. Sorry about all the issues this morning; this latest network interruption was caused by power problems at Brayford Pool.
(Please note that the catalogue will be unavailable again for a period of about 10-15 minutes from 5pm on Friday 9th October whilst a technical problem is fixed.)
At the risk of repeating ourselves:

What a morning! Users at Brayford Pool Campus will be aware that there are ongoing problems with the stability of the computer network.
These problems are affecting access to the library catalogue system (HiP; www.library.lincoln.ac.uk). Users are seeing the following error message:
HTTP ERROR: 404 /ipac20/ipac.jsp Not Found
RequestURI=/ipac20/ipac.jsp
As always, our apologies, and we’ll let you know when it’s fixed.

The Library now has a small but perfectly-formed presence on the ‘University of Lincoln (UK) official page‘ on the social networking site Facebook. If you’re a member of Facebook, you can become a ‘fan’ of the page, and search for books [and more...] from our library catalogue using the little search box ‘widget’ on the right-hand side.

We were getting some feedback that the links from our library catalogue to individual e-book titles (on each title’s catalogue record page) were too small, and a bit difficult to spot on the screen.
So we’ve made the links bigger and – hopefully – more obvious.

We’re always looking to improve the way our catalogue works, so if you have any comments, criticisms, queries, requests, suggestions, or otherwise … please post them here, or email: comments@lincoln.ac.uk
