Monday, March 8th, 2010

Print PowerPoint slides as handouts, with multiple slides on the same page, rather than one slide on each page… this saves paper, and your printer credit!

Print From My PC

Friday, November 6th, 2009

You asked, the University delivered. You can now print wirelessly from your own laptop to the University’s printers whilst in the GCW Library. It’s quick and easy to set up, works with both Windows and Mac (Linux users, we’re working on it) and saves you the time of having to transfer your work to a University computer to get it printed.

Visit http://print.lincoln.ac.uk from on campus to get started. If you get stuck, head to the IT Helpdesk on the first floor who will be able to give you a hand.

Update for British Library SED service users

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

If you are attempting to download an SED document delivered by email from the British Library and are presented with the screen shown below, please select Adobe Reader. This should open your document immediately for viewing and printing. The document will also be available to view through Adobe Reader’s Digital Editions for the usual fourteen day period.

Do not select Digital Editions as you will be prompted to upgrade your software. This is an unnecessary step and will result in you being unable to download your document.

If you have any queries regarding this information please contact acquisitions@lincoln.ac.uk. Thank you.

Power shutdown affecting computer network access – Sunday 16th November

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Dear all,

A message from University Estates & Facilities:

No electricity in AMC, Science Building and Harrison House on Sunday 16 November. There also will be no Communications network in the Library, Engine Shed, LPAC and Sparkhouse.

In order to carry out essential maintenance works to the High Voltage sub station it will be necessary to have a power shutdown from 8am for approximately six hours.

The Estates and Facilities Department appologise for any inconvinience this may cause.

This will mean that all computer network facilities in the GCW University Library will unfortunately be unavailable tomorrow, from opening time at 12:00noon until 2:00pm (approximately).

This will mean that there will be no access to your computer account, the Internet & email, library services (issue & return), and SafeCom printing within the GCW, until 2 o’clock. Some networked services at other campuses (Hull, Riseholme) will also be affected.

Library & Learning Resources apologise for this unavoidable disruption to our services.

Student survey (you said… we say…!)

Monday, August 11th, 2008

To help us plan the library services that you need, we carried out a survey in June 2008 to find out which service areas and resources you would like us to prioritise for development.

“Library and Learning Resources run regular surveys of you, our student users, to find out what you think of our services, and to identify what service improvements you would like us to prioritise.”

Thanks very much to everyone who completed the survey. The full results are available to download now from the University Portal, at: http://visit.lincoln.ac.uk/C19/C4/LLRsurvey/

The following is a summary of key results by campus, together with our responses… (more…)
